.fête de la Musique.

Yesterday was a really special day. Apart from being the first summer day, it was also a day for music. I know, now you're thinking.. every day should be a day for music..right? But how often do you walk the streets and see so many musicians playing, smiling, singing.. Unbelievable! I'm glad Ljubljana has officially got it's Fete de la musique!

I have to confess, I've never performed out on the street before. I'm glad Mateja wrote me and asked,if I wanted to participate. I called Pero, he borrowed a beautiful (loud) mandolin (named Mojdi) from Matej and cuz it sounded soo cool, we decided to use it in a few songs :) We didn't really know what to expect from this day.. didn't have an idea how it would look like. So we met at my place and went to the city. Matej joined us as our roady/cameraman/sound-man/producer/light-man and most important our friend and "moral support" :)

And so the adventure begins. At the first two locations we actually got chased away by a puppet show, a funny guy collecting tables and by church bells! funny indeed! We moved forward towards a really sweet spot Matej had caught in his sight. Suddenly I saw a smile from the crowd. A happy looking guy waved at me and invited us over. We shared a few words and smiles, ate some melted ice-cream and connected immediately! His name was Peter and his home was the road! He joined us later on at our first location, where we actually managed to play a little while longer. It was a funny feeling.. performing for random people walking by. But it's nice, when someone stops and takes a few moments to listen. And I love it when people smile :) soulfood.

After our first stop we got invited by Mateja (i like to call her VIF - very importand fan), to perform at a location with a sound system. We accepted that challenge, got our fan base together and headed towards the second location. I could hear a beautiful voice from the distance and I knew it had to be Kristina - Kitty, a young talented musician we knew. We sat down and enjoyed her performance and were able to experience a beautiful moment. The magic energy our traveler Peter had on the kids.. No words needed. Communication of hearts and smiles :)

It was time for our performance and we stepped on the little wooden stage, took our instruments and without stage fright did, what I think.. we do best :) laugh :D no...seriously. We just love to play, sing and enjoy people enjoying our music. After this location we lost our new friend Peter but found our friend and a great musician Aleksandra. She joined us on the next adventure and thereby the last - the bridge Mesarski most. The fanbase got bigger, even my guys from naio ssaion band joined us for a few songs and my gal Aleksandra shot this two videos ( i think i also ate a few flies there..):

BROTHERS:

REFUGEES:

Music is truly the universal language. Through music I met my best friends. I've been able to meet new people, talk with them, dance with them, smile with them. This day was by far one of the best days ever. And I've learned.. one should just go out on the street and experience it!

This video was shot by Matej on 3 different locations:

.my heroes.

Hey dear readers,

a different topic this time. I've been looking through all those old pictures of my family.. of my parents, when they were young. In love, starting a family.Got me thinking.. They got married at a young age, first had my sister, then me after a while. They've dedicated their lives to us.. they've made the impossible possible, they've fixed things if they got broken, they could predict the future! yes..true magic. My heroes.

As I look at them today, married for 36 years now!..I have to say, they're truly my greatest heroes. I realize that every day anew. They've raised us to be kind, respectful, honest, caring.. My dad always says that "there are only two kinds of people. The good ones and the bad ones" and my mum always says "don't forget to take the jacket, it might get chilly" - and when they're right, they're right! And there's also trust! I trust them and I know they want what's best for me. Although I sometimes wish, they'd know me better.. I wish we could talk more. But that comes with time, you have to make one step at a time. Cause I know, I'm always gonna their little girl.. So it's kinda hard for them to see you growing up so fast:)

When is the last time, you said to you parents, that you care? That you love them, no matter how f*up things might get. They'll always stand by you! Don't forget, they live for you and love you unconditionally! But hey, just look at the pictures of them, when they were young!

Don't you see yourself in them?

I think I'll be able to really understand and feel such love, when I have kids on my own:) Until then, I'm just trying to look up to my parents and learn from them and you know.. try to understand them.

.she alone.

mojcART & Pero - she alone by mojcART

This studio session was not what I expected it to be. I think noone did. It blew me away!
Pero did these awesome guitars, very simple but they open up and tell their own story in the chorus! Beautiful! Sometimes it's amazing, how well we communicate through the music! It couldn't amaze me enough :) thnx!
Matej was just there being awesome and helpful as always! He knows how shit happens! It's just such a joy seeing us together. (As an outside observer, I think Žiga can only agree with that;) ) Sometimes we're like children, we explore, we close our eyes and let the music enter, take over. We make fun of each-other, but can laugh about ourselves too! I think we know each-other more, after every studio session.

Let me correct myself. It was not a studio session, these are such strong technical words for sometihng so natural:)..It was... hanging out with friends, jamming, laughing and mostly enjoying music!! Of course there was a goal, to record something. But I think I'm passed that. No, not that I don't want to end up recording sth :) It's just... that it has to feel right and when it does, magic happens. You know, when you wake up in the morning and ... you feel it's gonna be a good day? That's when I should go and record something :) (ok,maybe that's when it would be also good to read some books and learn for the exams...but...). Hm, I just asked myself what a good day is. A sunny day? You feel relaxed? You feel understood? You feel good in your skin? I think you just feel it, right? A good day is, when my mind is in balance with my soul and my body.

We have to listen to our body. What our body and our intuition tell us! Sometimes we can't rely on anything else. So we have to learn to rely on ourselves!!!

I wanted to add this painting from a great friend which I admire and respect, Andreja Završnik. She mastered this one with coffee grounds, which makes it even more special... and strong!
